Oaklands Olympics - Game on! Wednesday 17th August 2016
To celebrate the Rio 2016 Olympic games and the learning students have been doing around this, we will hold our own version of the Olympics at Oaklands.
We will launch our event with the arrival of the Oaklands Olympic torch, a parade of house captains and selected athletes, and the reading of the Olympic Oath.
This will take place in the hall from 11:40am. We will then go outside and participate in a variety of modified Olympic events based on the real thing.
Athletes (students) can receive Olympic house pozis for displaying the Olympic Values of friendship, excellence and respect.
You are most welcome to join us, both as a spectator and athlete. The time table is:
11:40 - 12:00 opening in the hall
12:00 - 12:40 - 2 event rotations
12:40 - 1:00 - Lunch on the field. Join us as we all sit out on the grass and enjoy our lunch. Bring along a picnic to share with your children. If the weather does not allow us to be outside for a picnic then you can do this in your child's class.
1:00 - 1:30 lunch break
1:40 - 2:30 3/ 4 event rotations (depending on time)
2:30 Closing of games
2:45 return to class
