My name is Jenny-Marie Evans and I am in my second year of teaching. I am really enjoying working in the junior school at Oaklands as a Year 2 teacher. I am lucky as I also get to work with the Kauri students who are in Senior Choir and the students who have been attending the Drama Club.

I find teaching is a great job to be in and each day is different. It is a fun way to spend my days and help children achieve their goals. I have really enjoyed the school discos and attending the events for the wider community. I am looking forward to the school gala.

When I am not in the classroom I am often performing. Last weekend I was performing some zumba routines at the Arts Centre as part of Heritage Week. You may see me playing the french horn in the Christchurch Symphony or performing in a musical. I trained in the performing arts and it is a great skill to have. In the last holidays I tailed lambs at my cousin’s farm. I enjoy the outdoors and running and swimming are two outdoor hobbies I like to do especially in summer.
