Leadership Roles

Sarah Berquist —

All of the Year 7/8 students have a leadership role for the year. The roles include Peer Mediators, Librarians, PALs and Assembly Crew.

On Wednesday morning there was training for the students to become familiar in their new roles.

Peer Mediators

The Peer Mediators had a busy morning of training with Tracy Scott from the Peace Foundation. They spent the morning running through group activities to prepare them for mediation.

Ashley - I found it interesting that you could be a peer mediator as a job when you get older. Tracy, our facilitator has been a mediator for 20 years.

Devon - I liked doing the group activities in our training because I got to work with one of my friends and we were the second group to finish the activity.

Librarians

The librarians spent the morning in the Library with Mrs Ward going over how their role will work throughout the year. They explored the blog and the website used to issue and return books.

Charlotte - I am excited to be a librarian because I want to help Mrs Ward by issuing and returning books as well as putting books back on the shelves.

Brianna - I am looking forward to working with the new year 7 librarians because we are in mixed groups. In our groups we will be collaborating one break per week to help students in the library.

PAL (Physical Activity Leader)

The PALs spent the morning with Mr Muller exploring different games and activities that they could do with Kakano and Kauri students.

Sam I - I am looking forward to running PALs sessions with Brayden W for the Kauri students. We have set up a timetable with the different activities that we want to do.

Micah -  I am looking forward to running games with Noah for the junior students on Wednesdays.

Assembly Crew -

The assembly crew spent the morning with Mr Brown becoming familiar with the hall, exploring where the equipment needs to be placed for assembly and where it is stored after.

Nicholas - I am excited for being able to use the computer to project onto the screen when the hubs are sharing during assembly.

Oleg - This job means I can help the whole school by making sure the hall is set up, is clean and is packed away correctly. It is just like doing jobs at home to keep the house clean.
