Literacy

This term for literacy we wrote cover letters. These were to apply for a range of jobs such as wet day monitors and lunch monitors. Students included why they wanted to apply for the job, their past experiences that would be useful and what learner qualities that they have that would make them suitable for the job.

We have also been exploring autobiographies and biographies. We have learnt the difference between an autobiography and a biography and what similarities they have. We have been reading a range of different biographies and have looked closely at the language features and vocabulary that they use. We have also written our own autobiographies and biographies.

This term we have begun our 40 book challenge. We have explored different genre and what their characteristics are. This week we have been doing some book reviews and making some recommendations of some books we have enjoyed so that others can give them a go.

Maths

This term we have been learning lots of different strategies for addition and subtraction. We have also been practicing our basic facts. 

This term we also looked at creating graphs based on our fitness data. 

Fitness

This term we have been working hard on our fitness and have just finished our 2nd round of beep testing, pull ups, shuttle runs and horizontal jump testing. Students have made some awesome progress with this. 

Camp

We are about to head off on our Year 6 Camp at Waipara. Keep an eye out for some highlights of this coming up soon. We are looking forward to this!
