Once again this year we have 7 teams representing us in the Primary Sports Canterbury events. The sports that we were involved in were Netball, Hockey, Soccer and Rugby. Below is a short report for each sport.

Netball

This year our Netball teams played on the Hagley courts and both teams had successful seasons. Our 'A' team excelled in their grade and placed 3rd. This is one our best results in weekly sport for a while. Our 'B' team also played well and learnt some valuable skills to set them up for the future.  This team also placed 3rd in their grade.

Soccer

Both of our Soccer teams played all of their matches at Nunweek park. Once again we had a team of more experienced players in a competitive grade and our other team filled with a mixture of experienced players and some students who were learning the game. Overall both teams had a successful season and were involved in some great competition.

Rugby

This year our Rugby team was playing at South Hagley park. They began the season learning the new Rapid Rugby game and managed to rack up a very successful run of wins. In the second half of the season they entered into the 10 a side competition.  This was where they come up against some really tough opposition, but eventually gained a win to finish off their season.

Hockey

The Hockey teams were playing at Nunweek park. Our 'A' team often played on turf and the 'B' mainly played on grass. Both of our Hockey teams had lots of students learning game, but benefitted from some experienced players who acted as leaders.  Any players who had not played on turf before, learnt pretty quickly how fast the game is and how they need to be super fit. Well done to our 'A'  who placed 3rd in their grade.
