What do you think will happen when you poke a zip lock bag full of water with a pencil? This was the question we were investigating in Red Hub this week. 

Hypothesis:

- The bag will explode, leak or pop.

- The water colour will change to the colour of the pencil

Method:

- Get a ziplock bag, fill it with water. Get a sharp pencil and poke it through the ziplock bag. Wait and see what happens....

Results

We then gave it a go - and were VERY surprised with the results:

- The plastic bag didn't explode, pop or leak and the water colour didn't change. The pencils worked as a plug, stopping the water from escaping! (thank goodness, we've had enough rain outside this week, we didn't need it inside as well).
