2016 Kauri Run / Bike / Run - a roaring success

Grant Forman —

The mighty Kauri team, with the help of our wonderful parent helpers, took over Halswell Domain for the 2016 version of the Kauri run / bike / run on Monday.

After a short warm up - walking down with our bikes, students put their bikes into the transition zone and then made their way to the refreshingly shaded area beside the football clubrooms.

Following a walk around the course to familiarise ourselves, we readied ourselves for the upcoming challenge - to run, bike and run ourselves to personal glory.

We were up for the challenge, and despite the beating sun and legs resembling jelly, we dug deep into the pit, and came out on top.

It was fantastic to see students supporting each other, students determined to make it to the finish line, and the smiling faces of our parents.

Well done to everyone involved, from the teachers and parents to the students.

We salute the medalists in the individual races who took on the challenge of completing all 3 legs of the race. These amazing athletes were recognised at the official medal ceremony at the conclusion of the races.

Thanks again to the help of our wonderful parents and our local community police, who helped us across the busy Halswell Road, and ensured that we returned safely, although a little exhausted, to school.

As Mr Forman said, ' You may not be smiling right now after your race, but give it a couple of days and you will have a smile a mile wide with pride at how well you did' - and we have.
