Rebecca McLean —

What a year it has been. Read on to see some of our highlights for the year.

What can I say!? It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know the wonderful students of hub 6 this year. It has been a journey and.a half. I have enjoyed seeing all of the hub 6 students grow and learn this year. We have had so much fun together from swimming sports, to school camp, through lockdown and right to our big move to our new learning space. Looking back through all the photos it amazes me how far you have all come and I wish you all the best for the next phase in your journey as a year 7!

- Mrs Fuller

Here are some highlights from some of our wonderful students...

A highlight of the year for me was camp because I really enjoyed the activities like the giant swing. The best was the raft building and the raft race because first we won and second. We had a lot of fun building the raft. It was also funny seeing the reaction of the parents when they lost.

-Aashvi Kumar

A highlight of this year was camp because we got to do a bunch of fun activities like kayaking and the giant swing . I have also enjoyed silhouette art because we got to trace a photo of our bodies and then we got to draw our favourite things inside our bodies.

-Angel Prasad

A highlight of this year for me was obviously camp. I loved being in a group with my friends and I loved doing the zip line. It felt like I was a bird. In kayaking Zara and I thought we were getting a reward but we got flipped over. I loved camp and I loved cycle safety. I love how I passed my house and we learnt how to go on the road. It was fun.

-Aurora Betman

A highlight for me was going to camp because swimming in the lake was quite fun even though my favourite top got wet. Another highlight for me was swimming because I have learnt a lot of new swimming skills.

-Ava Gearry

Something I really enjoyed was kapa haka. I really loved performing and learning some new songs. I especially liked doing Hopi Hopi. Another thing I liked doing was silhouette art because it was fun and I enjoyed drawing stuff about me in a creative way.

-Ayla Veendrick

Out of my favourites, my most favourite was Kapa Haka. I loved Kapa Haka. Another highlight for me was camp because I loved giant swing all because I was brave and went to level 3 it was so fun! Most of all term 4 integrated Learning  was the best. I was in the gardens group and me and Aashvi were going to do a model but we didn't have any time so we are doing a Minecraft version. I really enjoyed year 6 and I can't wait until year ⅞.

-Bella Jones

Out of all my favourites, my most favourite was camp because I was in a room with my friends and also the water hole thing where you could jump or swing into the water. When we went kayaking, Zara and Aurora kept on talking so near the end the teacher put all of our kayaks around Zara and Aurora and Zara and Aurora thought they were getting some kind of reward. Then he flipped Zara and Aurora off their kayaks! I also loved our gala dance. The cha cha slide was a fun cool and awesome dance to learn and when we performed at the gala it was awesome to perform in front of teachers of other classes and parents.

-Charlotte Osborne

A highlight for me was camp. I liked the zipline because it felt like I was going really fast and I loved the water slide because I felt like an eagle. Something I found a challenge was sleeping on camp because I was not use to it.

-Cohen Poilly

I have enjoyed Integrated learning this term because I like to design and create things that can be turned into a model.

-Erica Du

A highlight for me was Maths Whizz.

-Ethan Charlesworth

My highlight for this year is creating a raft at camp although we didn't win, we still got to ruin the teachers boat/raft.

I also enjoyed Netball Winter Spots. We still didn’t do so well but i'm still proud of myself because we won our last game.

-Honour Tepania

I enjoyed the winter sport. It was very fun. I also liked The fitness program. It was fun too. Lockdown was sooo fun,  staying at home, sleeping in, and playing playstation. Soooo fun! I cant wait till next year so I can join kapa haka.

-Jack Whittaker

Many great events have happened this year, my favourite was Cycle safety because in Cycle safety I learnt about turning right, turning left and stopping.

-Jasper Qian

I enjoyed Cultural fest because its the last Cultural fest ever and I enjoyed the songs and it was a great experience for me.

-Jesslyn Tan

I enjoyed winter sport and Cultural Festival the most. We had the beep test at the start of the year and Noah, Nathan and I all tied as a triple. I loved fitness and athletics day because it was my time to shine. I loved camp. My favourite activity was the Giant Swing. We also did cross country and I came 5th place out of about 20 boys in my year level. We did Book week and we could dress up as our favourite book character on Friday the 4th of December.

-Kade Maher

I enjoyed the kapa haka performance, and swimming throughout the weeks. I loved doing the pink shirt day projects as well. I enjoyed silhouette art because I like drawing, and it was really fun to do.

-Kaitlyn Scobie

This year I have enjoyed getting into the netball winter sports team and we came first in the competition. My favourite position in netball is defence. I loved camp, the activity that I enjoyed the most was the giant swing because I loved the feeling that you were flying through the trees and in the bunk rooms I was with four of my friends. When we went to bed we were asleep in two minutes. This year I enjoyed doing all the art. We did Pop up penguin, portrait and silhouette art. I liked going swimming but the pool was a little cold. We had people from Kelly sports come in and help us with our swimming, earlier in the year we had other people from Kelly sports and they taught some fun games that we could play at play times. I also loved moving into our new space, I like how the classroom was a lot colder and not so hot. I loved doing Kapa Haka and performing at the Cultural Festival.

-Laura Bunn

I have enjoyed camp this year, even though I was afraid of kayaking it ended up being my favourite. I enjoyed cycle safety even though it was hard it just made it more exciting.

-Lucca Taiulu

This year I have enjoyed getting into the Netball winter sport team and we came first In the competition thing. I loved camp, the activity that I enjoyed the most was the giant swing because I loved the feel that you were flying through the trees, I literally screamed . This year I enjoyed doing all the art we did: portrait art of ourselves and I really liked silhouette art. I liked going swimming but the pool was a little cold but not that much. We had people from Kelly sports come in and help us with our swimming, earlier in the year we had other people from Kelly sports and they taught some fun games that we could play at play times. I also loved moving into our new space, I like how the classroom is a lot cooler and does not have gross curtains. Now that we have a bigger space we can do more collaborative stuff. I liked Run bike run. Pixie and I were in a team. She did the big run and I did the biking. We both did the Small run. I loved Cultural Fest we had so much fun. I was with my friends and we performed at 9:00.

Out of all the great activities that happened this year, I have several favourites. Firstly, I majorly enjoyed camp. We did lots of fun activities, such as kayaking, the giant swing, abseiling and crate stacking.

Next, is Winter Sport. This year I played HOCKEY and I hugely enjoyed it. I was in a team with all of my friends.

Overall 2020 was an okay year but lockdown restricted a lot of good things.

-Max McAlister

-Nathan Bond

A highlight for me was going to camp because swimming in the lake was quite fun even though my favourite jacket got wet.

-Nikhill Nambiar

A highlight for me was camp. The giant swing was really high and really fun. Also we did kayaking. It was not fun at all because I got stung by a bee. Also on the first day of school camp I hit my head on the bunk bed  and it really hurt so I had to get a ice pack. However it was not cold, it was sort of warm and a little cold. That did not help! Lock down was really fun because we got to do fitness challenges and we got to do class and hole hub zoom meetings.

-Rylee Archer

Throughout this year I have had many highlights though If I had a favourite one it would be Waipara camp in term 1. Some of the many fun activities were Kayaking, Abseiling, the Giant Swing and crate stacking.

I also hugely enjoyed the winter sport In which I played in the hockey A team. We came third and It was by far the best part of term 3.
