Marble Art

Claire Gill —

Last week Mrs Gill's year one class viewed the paintings of Jackson Pollock and Koko the Gorilla as we made our own unique works of art.

Our focus for the week was exploring how art can be created beyond using a paintbrush and developing our creative confidence. The students viewed and discussed Jackson Pollock's 1947 art piece dubbed "Reflection of the Big Dipper". Here are some of their reactions:

Mehtaab "A bowl full of colours"

Siyuan "It looks like space"

Amela "I see a bouncy ball"

Jamien "Scribbles"

Marcus "The earth"

James "Planets"

Chelsea "A big circle star"

Vanessa "A rainbow"

Next, the students went to work to create their own Pollock inspired artwork using a selection of primary paint colours, a marble and a baking tin.
