Māori language week music
Every second Thursday 0/1EF have music with Mr McCallum.
This week we learnt some Māori words and songs with actions.
We learnt some simple greetings and farewells:
Kia ora - Greetings
Tēnā koe - Hello to one
Tēnā kōrua - Hello to two
Tēnā koutou - Hello to three or more
Haere rā - Goodbye
Ka kite - Goodbye
We sang a variety of different Māori songs and practised our school song:
Taitapu Waiata
Taitapu……te wāhi nei
Kō te kura Oaklands
Aue Aue
Kō mātou tamariki
E tū mai nei
Me ngā kaiako e awhi
Tō mātou ako
I ngā mea ō te Ao
Kia manawanui….nui
Taitapu .……te wāhi nei
Kō te kura Oaklands
Aue Aue
He aha te mea nui ō te Ao
He tangata, he tangata
Kō mātou …..ngā tāngata x2
( kimihia tō kaha x2 )
..and in English:
Taitapu the place here Oaklands the school
We are the children that stand here
And the teachers that help
Our learning of the things of the world
Be patient
Taitapu the place here
Oaklands the school
What is the most important thing in the world
It is people, it is people
We are the people!
