Year 6 Orientation Visit to the Year 7/8 Hub.
Year 6 students visited the year 7/8 Hub to get a small taste of how things work in the Senior School.
This year we have introduced a new initiative which sees the Year 6 Hub visiting the year 7/8 Hub, to get a small taste of how things work in the Senior School.
Year 6 Whanau Rooms visited us on three separate occasions, on Tuesday 13 June. The programme included a presentation by some Year 7 students, question and answer time, small group discussion, a chance to look around the room and finally an IXL online Maths problem solving challenge.
Each session started very quietly, but it was great to see our Year 6 visitors relaxing and feeling more comfortable as the sessions went on. It was particularly pleasing to see how well the Year 7 ambassadors were able to articulate what goes on in the Year 7/8 hub. It was clear that they were proud of their space and were happy to share it with others. Ka Pai Seniors!
With the inaugural event being very successful, it is likely that this initiative will become a annual feature.
Hear what the students had to say about their experience here:
Zara ( Year 7) - It was enjoyable getting to talk to some of the year sixes. I would be happy to do it next year as a year 8.
Felix (Year 7) - I enjoyed sharing about leadership and I had fun.
Keira ( Year 7) - I thought it was interesting that the yr 6 maths questions we did together were quite hard. I enjoyed showing the year 6 students round our hub.
