Today we begin a new section from the sport department - a weekly focus on a student who excels at sport

Today we highlight the amazing Rebecca James, a year 8 student. Rebecca has represented Oaklands in a number of sports - excelling in basketball and netball - and has made a name for herself outside of school with netball and softball.

This year Rebecca was co captain of the Halswell A Primary Netball team. Her team made it to the semi-finals this year and was named Halswell Primary team of the year.Rebecca was selected to trial, and was selected as a reserve, for the Selwyn Rep Teams.Rebecca was also named most Dedicated Primary Player of the year. Also during the season Rebecca umpired for Selwyn.  She umpired year 7 and 8 girls. Rebecca obtained her level 1's umpiring certificate.

Not only has Rebecca impressed with her individual skills, she has proven to be a strong, competent and popular leader, coaching and refereeing across a number of sports.

We here at Oaklands are very proud of Rebecca and her achievements. She is a fantastic ambassador for the qualities  that we value at Oaklands - enthusiasm, dedication, kindness and a fantastic personality to boot.
