Sun Smart Students

Alicia Hebbend —

Providing our students with a safe learning environment is important to us. In room 17 we have discussed the importance of having our sun hats everyday.

In room 17 we have been discussing why we need to wear sun hats everyday. We already know lots about the sun and why we need to protect ourselves.

Sun hats help to keep us safe when we are outside. "They (sun hats) protect our face when it is hot and sunny so you don't get sunburnt," said Jessie.

But, we need to wear our sun hats everyday. "We need to wear our sun hats when it is cloudy and sunny," said Maxwell.  Lincoln said that this is because "even when it is cloudy the sun can go through the clouds".

We also know the importance of lots of water and sun block.

At school we get rewarded for consistently wearing our sun hats with with Pozi awards at break times and CARE ticks in class.

If we do forget our sun hats we know we need to sit under the sails in our school. We can't wait for summer but we know that we can make good choices to make ourselves safe.
