From admin block to new learning space

Oaklands Redevelopment —

The former administration block is being transformed into a smart new learning space complete with kitchen for students to unleash their culinary creativity.

The builders have gutted the former administration space and are putting up new internal walls to turn it into a flexible learning area. The space is likely to house senior students from mid-Term 3.

The former staff room kitchen is being retained and smartened up for use in life skills classes.

The new learning space will feature break-out areas and a central space, as you will can see on the yellow highlighted floor plan above.

The goal is for the new learning space to be finished sometime in early Term 3. There will be a ceremony to officially open and name the space - which will be the first completed part of our redeveloped school.

This learning space is joined to the existing 'Canterbury' block (labelled Block 1 on the floor plan). Work to refurbish the Canterbury block will start in early 2020. When completed, the block is likely to be home to the Year 7 and 8 students.
