A look back at the second to last week of the term.

Good-bye Aleen

Terrible news! We lost Aleen across the ditch. Thursday was Aleen's last day as she and her family are moving to Australia next week.

Bon Voyage Austin

Austin is heading over to China for five weeks, we hope he has a great time and look forward to hearing all about his adventures.

Reading

Next week we will be bringing home old favourite books because the teachers will be doing some running record testing.

In reading we have been learning to follow written instructions by creating oragami houses, learning to write a book review and finding high frequency words in our texts, and finding a variety of strategies to figure out unknown words.

Writing

In Writing this week Mr Horn's writing class have been learning to write a description. We wrote a shared description of Superman and Maui, then our own descriptions of an image of a summer day, a winter day, an autumn day and finally a spring day.

Mr Morehu's class has been writing descriptions of mystery objects.

Ms O'loughlin's class has been writing about the Student Led Conferences.

Maths

Well done to Jimmy, Liam and Connor who earned a Maths Whizz certificate this week

In Maths this week Mr Horn's groups have been learning to do some simple multiplication and how to balance an equation when you round a number up or down to add or subtract.

Meanwhile, Mr Morehu and Ms O'loughlin's class have been doing the Time unit Mr Horn's class did while he was away, learning to sequence events by what takes longer, time and compare two events, learn the months of the year and how to tell the time using an analog clock.

Integrated Topic

After our massive day last Friday we had another small creation session on Friday, creating art and toys from recycled rubbish. Next week we will begin gathering our wonderings for next term's topic.

Student Led Conferences

Well done to those of you that had a Student Led Conference, you all did very well to share your learning.

What's Coming Up?

- Mr Horn will be on ICT release on Tuesday

- Our shared lunch is on Friday, the last day of term

- School Assembly in on Monday, we will be seeing some CARE certificates come out then

- The last day of term 2 is Friday, we will be finishing at the normal time of 3pm. 

- Keep your eyes open to find out who the leading house is in the house points competition as they will be having a mufti day.
