Sick Bay Procedures

Margaret Trotter —

Every child who comes into the sick bay is checked by one of our office staff who has a first aid certificate.

Unless there is an emergency every student will come to the office with   a completed medical green slip which outlines the injury or illness.  This form gives the office staff the initial information to help the student.  The office staff will contact parents/caregivers if required. This will be for any injury or illness that is determined to need further support.  After a child has been to the sick bay they will have a red stamp on their hand for the teacher and parent to know they have had medical treatment. A new addition to our sick bay procedures are a slip informing parents of their  child's sickbay visit. Any child who has been treated for a head injury who has been assessed to be able to go back to class will have a note given to the teacher to ensure they are continued to be monitored.

We are also updating our first aid kits as part of our ongoing review process.
