Year 7/8 Formal Dance
It's that time of year again. The time when the Year 7 & 8 students begin to prepare for their formal later in the term.
Preparations for the upcoming Year 7 & 8 Formal are now in full swing. The students have settled quickly into their dance partnerships and are already onto learning their second dance. The Year 8's are putting their experience from last year to good use and are proving to be fantastic teachers to their Year 7 peers.
We started with a rock and roll reel; a great way to break the ice for everyone. Room 26's Year 8 boys provided a running 4 beat count to help everyone master/ re learn this dance and it was great to see everyone experience success with this first dance.
We have now moved on to learning the Waltz. The students are doing very well at this. The person most challenged by learning the moves is Mr Muller, who claims to have two left feet. Check out the video above to see our first effort at the Waltz.
The formal date is set for Friday 9 December. We have a busy time ahead of us as we will be learning at least 3 or 4 more dances between now and then. We will also be show casing some of our dances at the Gala as well. It's shaping up to be a fun and exciting term filled with music and laughs.
