Week 9 in Hub 5

Rebecca McLean —

Check out a few of our poems that use onomatopoeia and what we have been up to over the past week.

What a busy week it has been!

Student-Led Conferences.

Thank you to all of those who came along to our student-led conferences. The students did a stunning job at presenting their learning and we were very proud of their efforts. If you were unable to come along, however you would still like to make a time to come in, please contact one of us and we will get back to you.

Jury Duty

As some of you will know Mr Forman has been out of the classroom the past week as he was called in for Jury Duty. He will be back with us as per usual next week. :)

Integrated Learning

This week we have been busy with our 'Taking action projects'  for our integrated learning. Students have selected one of the following contexts: Home, Community or School. They have then created a question that they would like to investigate and are now beginning their research and creating surveys to find out more information.  Next week we will continue on with our 'Taking action projects'.

Literacy

Students have been learning about poetic language features such as onomatopoeia, similes, alliteration and personification.  They have been learning to use these devices to make their writing more engaging for the audience.

In Miss McLean's literacy class we have been writing some poems using onomatopoeia. Check out some of our examples down below.

Maths

Over the past week we have been learning about measurement. We have been focusing on estimating lengths and converting units of measurement (mm, cm, m, km). We will continue with measurement next week.

Maths Whizz

Congrats to the following students who received a Maths Whizz certificate this week for their weekly progressions...

Next week our celebration of learning and our open day is on Friday morning. Come down to check out some of our integrated learning 'Taking action projects'.
