Year 4-8 Swim Fun Day @ Halswell Pool

Grant Forman —

Read on to find out about the fun we had for our Year 4-8 swim event on Friday 25th February.

Each year the Year 4-8 students and teachers head down to Halswell Pool for our annual Swim Day. On the programme were width and length races where students could earn points for their respective House.

This was followed by the House Challenges - organised and run by the 2024 House Leaders and Yr 8 Senior leaders. The 'Big Splash' challenge, where students in each house try to do the biggest splash, was won by Miro who earned 200 house points.

The second challenge was the 'how quickly can you get the objects out of the pool' challenge. This was won by Miro house.

Following this students had a free swim and cooled down with a refreshing ice block.

At about 1:00pm the majority of students returned to school whilst 110 students remained, taking part in the school swim trials - on offer, a chance to represent the school at the upcoming SW zones swim meet.

It was a wonderful day, with warm weather and a great friendly, encouraging sprit evident.

THANK YOU

A big thank you goes out to our wonderful parent/caregiver helpers who walked with us, and it was great to see so many of the school community at the pool enjoying the day.

... AND FROM THE STUDENT LEADERS

I really enjoyed leading a little bit of the swim fun day, it seemed like all the years 4-8 enjoyed it as well. My favourite part was setting up, ice blocks and the races. I loved getting involved and helping the younger ones with their races.

I think the swim funday was a big success because it was really enjoyable and there was a lot of fun that was had. I really enjoyed helping out and leading it. My favorite part was seeing everyone from the younger year 4rs to the year 7/8 participating in all the events.

Emma [Miro House Captain]

The swim funday was a blast and it was the first big sports event of the year. My favorite part of it was giving piggybacks to students and helping them feel confident in the water and seeing everyone getting involved and earning loads of house points.

Amelia - Head Girl

I really enjoyed the swim fun day because I got to help out and watch everyone do their best in the width and length races. Another highlight was the house challenges because I really loved seeing all the cooperation within the houses.

My favorite part of the swim day was seeing every house give everything their best go. I also enjoyed seeing everyone trying everything even if they might not have usually done anything like that.
