South West Zones Swim results
The Oaklands swim squad recently competed at the SW Zones swim meet to determine who would go onto challenge for gold at the Canterbury Schools Swim Champs at Selwyn Aquatic Centre in Rolleston on Thursday 6th April.
A team of 20 year 5-8 students took on the might of the South West Zone at Wharenui Pool on Tuesday 14th March.
Competition was tough, as were the judges who disqualified a number of swimmers for technical stroke faults or incorrect turning and finishing.
A couple of our amazing swimmers won their race only to be disqualified and we would like to recognise their resilience with bouncing back from this disappointment to continue with their remaining races.
We had a great day at the pool with a good number of students earning the right to attend the upcoming Canterbury Schools Swim Champs.
A big shout out goes to the amazingly talented Logan Cust who swept all before him to win both his races and goes into the Canterbury Champs with a strong chance of a top three placing.
Congratulations to all our swimmers on their efforts and outstanding display of our CARE values.
