What an afternoon!!

geoffrey McCallum —

If you were not in the Oaklands School hall last Thursday you missed out on a most wonderful afternoon's entertainment as we celebrated the performing arts with our Senior Citizens Concert.

Last Thursday (November 19) we held our first Senior Citizens Concert in a long time. We had a good  number of older folk as well as around 20 preschoolers who had come from a couple of local pre schools along with their teachers and parent help. It was a true celebration with items from our Senior and Junior Kapahaka, Senior and Junior Dance and Senior and Junior Choir. On top of that we had the first 2 placegetters from our Senior Talent Quest who also performed for us. What an afternoon. We were privileged to have been a part of this occasion. After the performances - about 20 of the senior students did an awesome job of waiting on the older folk and serving them afternoon tea. While this was happening, Molly, Jesse and Mr McCallum were leading the audience in some well known songs and encouraging them to join in. It was an afternoon full of joy, laughter and celebration. The students were excited to perform and that joy transferred to the audience. The audience left the hall with a spring in their step and a smile on their faces.

See what you missed out on!!!Roll on next years Senior Citizens concert
