Kōmingo - Week 5 and Distance Learning
Kia ora all. Today's week 5 review is the same, but a little different...
The same in that we are reviewing the current week 5; different in that it is not at school, rather at home via distance learning.
We trust that you are taking good care of yourselves and that your child/ren are doing as well as can be expected in these exceptional circumstances.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us if we can be of assistance in any way, and we welcome updates on how your child is faring whilst we remain in lockdown.
He waka eke noa - We are all in this together
Important notices:
* Monday - Dress up in Gold - we encourage students to wear as much gold as they can in support of the NZ Paralympic team. We will take some photos and thorough the Paralympic New Zealand official resource, send wishes of support to the NZ athletes currently competing in Tokyo.
* Timetable for students and families
This slide, shared with families and students is where you can access the timetable and links to zoom meetings and resources for distance learning. As it is in 'publish to the web' form, it needs to be refreshed regularly in order for updates to be viewable. Please let us know if you need any help with this.
* Week 6
With the announcement that Christchurch will move to level 3 effective from Wednesday, the school has sent out a survey regarding your intentions with the move to Level 3. This has been shared with families, and we would really appreciate you replying to this at your earliest convenience.
Week 5 Review
With many options to choose from, students have shared something they are proud of, or enjoyed doing, this week.
Prodigy Mathematics
Part of our regular home learning and class programme, Prodigy mathematics features on our maths learning plan for lockdown distance learning.
Today we acknowledge 3 students from Rāwhiti and 3 from Uru in Kōmingo for their effort in their maths learning via Prodigy.
Well done to the following students:
CARE values Silver Challenges
Many students are working towards their Silver CARE certificate, and part of the requirements is to complete a number of home/school challenges which focus on aspects of Community, Active Thinking, Respect and Excellence.
It is pleasing to see so many students taking on the challenge and identifying activities they can complete safely at home whilst we are in lockdown.
Today we share examples from the amazing Georgia and Ella.
Students who have not yet obtained their Bronze CARE certificate can still do these challenges which will place them in a great position to achieve their Silver CARE when they gain their Bronze.
Writing
Students have been spoilt for choice with a variety of engaging writing topics this week. This includes:
- writing the ending to an episode of Garfield
- Creating a superhero, including their superhero qualities/powers
- a news report based on odd articles from Kiwikidsnews
- the day in the life of a shoe
- and designing a robot
We feature the writing of a Kōmingo student who took the opportunity to do the 'news report' activity.
