Term 4 Week 5 In Review
9th November- 12th November
Writing
This week in writing we wrote about animals we may find at Willowbank. Students got the opportunity in small groups to research their chosen animal and then write about it. Students were eager to find out what they eat, where they live, and what they look like. Students researched animals including Eels, Deer, Geese, Cockado, Lemur, Llama, Kea, Kiwi, Pukeko and Wallabe that we may see next week at Willowbank.
Maths
This week Miss Doig and Mrs Lutterman's maths groups continued to focus on number knowledge and strategy. Mrs G also continued with coding and gave students the opportunity to jump on Maths Whizz.
Reading
All students are now being read the chapter chat book "The Giant Peach". Some students were lucky enough to make paper mache peaches using balloons. Students have continued working hard to get as much done in their booklet as they can ensuring they take their time and do their best work. Most students have shown some progress lately as we have been reshuffling the reading groups. Ka Pai!
We have noticed that not many reading books are coming back to school. Please ensure your child keeps their reading books in their bag unless reading and brings them to school so we can put them away. Thanks!
Integrated topic
Students have been given the responsibility of looking after our garden using water spray and gloves. The garden is growing so fast and we are looking forward to hopefully planting these in our garden.
Swimming
This week we were lucky enough to get into the pool on Wednesday. Although it was a little chilly, students enjoyed being back in the water practicing their basic skills such as getting in and out of the pool safely. We look forward to more people bringing their togs and getting involved!
We have Swimming on Wednesday and Friday until the end of the term.
All students are expected to participate. If there is a reason as to why they cannot please email Hub teachers, or send along a note with your child.
