Writing - 

This term students will be going through the writing process to write persuasive speeches. Once the speeches have been completed we will be holding a speech competition where we can hear and judge the speeches.  A Year 7 and a Year 8 will represent Oaklands School at the Ellesmere Speech Competition on Monday 3rd September.   

Integrated Learning/Science Experiments -

The focus for Integrated Learning this term is Science, Physical World, with a focus on Heating and Cooling. This week we have focused on learning new vocabulary and have begun working through some experiments. 

To create our Wonder Wall students looked at images and recorded their ideas using the following sentence starters - 

• I wonder how, what, where, when and why...
  
• I am confused by...
  
• If I could ask someone in the picture a question it would be...
  
• I want to know more about...

School Quiz Night - 

The School Quiz is the main fundraising event for the Year 8 students for their Wellington Camp. The Quiz is going to be held on Friday 21st September, please add this date to your diaries and get your teams together. 

If you are able to help  with this event in anyway please contact the Year 7/8 teachers. Help may come in the form of assisting with preparation, donations for auction/raffle or a contact you may have with a business that may be willing to help.

More information will come in the lead up to this event. 

Bake Sales -
