Room 23 by Jenny-Marie Evans

Jenny-Marie Evans —

Learning is about giving it a go and working with new people.

In gymnastics we have been creating a sequence and performing it to our peers. We have been working closely with Room 22. We had to include a starting position, a, leap, a roll, and a finishing position. We got to use the big cushiony mats to roll over. Working collaboratively with room 22 has enabled us to work with children who we don’t always get to work with. We had some great routines, and Elly Ryan was brave by starting her sequence backwards by jumping off the beam into a roll on the floor.

In Maths we have been learning about measurement and comparing different lengths. We had to estimate how far an aeroplane flew and then measure the distance with our feet. We measured the distance around the field and how far we could throw the shot pot. We had to measure how many cups were in our drink bottle, and measure the distance around the netball court. Room 22 buddied up with Room 23 and had a lovely day working outside together.

We have started learning about the Education Brief and thinking what Oaklands might look like in the future. In writing we designed a playground, and we wrote a letter to Mrs Trotter explaining why we we needed the new playground equipment. We have been learning to include interesting ideas in our writing so they are appealing to read. So far popular requests for new playground equipment have been slides, swings and trampolines.
