Oaklands Events
Last week the school had many highlights and opportunities for our students. This included a visit from the Warriors Rugby League Team (which was the Stuff site) our Kauri Cross Country, students completing their learning on Anzac and beginning their Science unit on Habitats in preparation for class trips. We also had our parent meeting on developing our Education Brief.
A huge thank you to all the parents who attended our meeting to develop our Education Brief as part of the Ministry of Education programme to redevelop our school. This is the most significant change for Oaklands School since it opened as this is about what will education look like in 20 years. Part of this is review includes, our teaching and learning, our learning spaces and our school zone. Our student council is also collecting information from our students to ensure their ideas and thoughts are part of this process. Mrs Caroline Martin will be leading this process with the support of a Ministry of Education appointed person known as the Navigator. The next step is to form a committee to enable them to take the ideas and write our Education Brief. If you were unable to attend the meeting we will be providing other opportunities for you to share your ideas and thoughts.
