Term 3 Wrap up for the yr 7/8 Hub
We did it. We got a whole term of 2020 in without too much disruption.
We've been busy! We have had lots of fun and we have worked very hard. Enjoy our reflections on what we have been up to this term.
Name: Dishti
My T3 Reflections: My highlight of term three was getting a place in cross country and going to South West Zones because I wanted to know what happens at cross country South West zones. A challenge was having my work at a hundred percent because I rush my work.I would like to thank Mr Sy because he had to fill in for Miss Baker and also Mr Muller and Mr Brown because they had to work with Mr sy because he had never taught in the year 7/8 hub and had a bit more work to do. I am grateful for my friends because they supported me in everything and helped me and made my day even better.
Name: Kyra
My T3 Reflections: My term 3 highlight is the goodbye party for Mrs Baker because that means that we have a new teacher in our hub but it was sad at the same time. Also my highlight is fitness because from year 7 to year 8 I have gotten better at doing fitness which means that I am trying my best for doing the running and I have gotten better at not getting too tired when doing my running at school.
Name: Arsh
My T3 Reflections: (hub 7&8 sports comp) I really enjoyed playing capture the flag as one of the games in the competition, although we lost quite a bit it was really entertaining for me. Another reflection was basketball, I really enjoyed basketball this term because it was 5x5. We also didn't have a full team so we had different subs every time. I also really enjoyed kapa haka thanks to Mr Brown for that. I love fitness in the morning, it is like a refresher for the day. One of the sad things was Mrs Baker leaving. I really miss her sometimes but we have Mr Sy fill in so that makes things a bit more fun.
Name: Rose B
My T3 Reflections: My highlights of term 3 were the hub sport competition, being apart of Mrs Baker’s last day at Oaklands, Filming a virtual open day for the year 6’s, doing the politics learning, practicing for cantalmaths, being apart of the EPRO8’s team, and many more fun things that we did this term. Something that challenged me this term was being sick and not being able to go to school a lot because I missed out on a bit and felt a bit disconnected. I am proud of the Epro8 team and the cool Gorilla that we ended up making. I am also proud of the persausive speech that I wrote for a chance to go to the Ellesmere competition. I would like to thank all my amazing friends for supporting me throughout this term especially when I was away and they filled me in on what happened. I am extremely grateful for all of the year ⅞ hub teachers, we are so lucky to have you as our teachers there is so much that you do for us I can’t thank you enough. This term has been so fun and I can’t wait for term 4.
Name: Erica
My T3 Reflections: This term has been a rollercoaster of events. First CantaMaths was cancelled but I enjoyed working with my partners in crime Izzy, Osian and Luke. Second of all, the Koru Games was cancelled, I was going go to the volleyball part of it but our teachers gave us an amazing tournament of sports and that was super fun!! This term I really enjoyed just overall coming to school. This term has been spectacular and next term even though we have to wear hats I still can’t wait.
Name: Natalia
My T3 Reflections: My highlights of term 3 were hub 7&8 Koru Games. At school I really enjoyed playing capture the flag. Even though when we played team 6 XANTHE, EVA, ARSH and NATHAN kept marking me but It was still fun. Another reflection was playing 5x5 basketball even though we didn't have our full team.We still had Morgan , Zoe and Rose to play for us. Another thing is fitness - I love how it's in the morning. So It pumps up our energy .
Name: Eva
My T3 Reflections: This term has been full of unexpected events… It was probably one of the most memorable terms I've had because I was expecting a lot more but Covid made it easier and a lot more difficult in ways. I was hoping to make it to Koru Games but I had a great time just with the 2-3 days of sport activities. I was really proud of my team even though we may not have come first. A massive thanks to our teachers for making fitness extreme for the past couple of weeks. It's been quite the adventure trying to run my own race but I'll get there. That one day where we had a bunch of fun with Mrs Baker on her last day. It was a bonus having a shared lunch, I really wish it lasted longer! I can't wait to see what term 4 has to for us...
Name: Isabella L
My T3 Reflections: One of my highlights this term is the 7&8 sports competition because it was a lot of fun and I got to hangout with people I normally would not hangout with. My favourite game in the competition was capture the flag because you didn’t have to take turns coming off and on the field. I am really excited to see what is going to happen in term 4.
Name: Keisha
My T3 Reflections: One of my highlights for this term was the year 7/8 sports competition because it was really fun because we had to work with people we might not normally work with. By far my favourite game was capture the flag because we had to use a lot of strategy to get the flags and make it back without anyone stealing our flags. I am really excited to see what we will be doing in term 4.
Name: Winston
My T3 Reflections: Some of my key highlights this term were: Sports Tournament, Have Your Say, and Job Application. I picked these because I really enjoyed the opportunities we had during this time. We had many options during these times. Some of the best moments were during the Sports Tournament as we had won most of our games and drawed. During the Have Your Say I was really fascinated with the many political policies that were found on the website. During the Job Application I really enjoyed what results I had gotten back. Some challenges that occurred this term were the Top 3 Reports as I was quite surprised with the results I had got. Things that I am quite proud of this term were the Have Your Say as I was intrigued by the political talk. I’d like to personally thank all the teachers, especially Mrs Baker, as they’ve helped me during my learning. It was quite sad that we had to experience Mrs Baker’s departure but the reasoning was good. Some things that i’d like to mention are the support of the Teachers during this term as we almost had another lockdown and the teachers supported all students. I’ve also enjoyed Technology as Osian and I made some great models in Design and Innovation. Overall my favourite thing this term was Have Your Say.
Name: Luke
My T3 Reflections: This term was really fun and some of my highlights include the year 7/8 Sports Competition and learning about how voting and elections work. I also enjoyed Design and Innovation at Technology because I got to make a 3D model of a sword in a stone. I am also proud of myself for achieving my Excellence badge and my silver care award. A challenge I faced this term is trying to complete all of my leadership challenges because I had to cook 2 meals, learn 6 phrases in Spanish, save for something over $100, swim 5km over a term over and research a job I am interested in. Overall I really enjoyed this term and I hope that next term will be the same.
Name: Osian

My T3 Reflections: I have really enjoyed this term because a lot of cool things have happened like the sports comp, but some things have been sad. We had to say goodbye to one of the best teachers I know, but we welcomed Mr Sy this term which has been great. Mr Sy has done a great job at filling Mrs Baker's spot. I can’t wait to see what we do next term.
Name: Charlie
My T3 Reflections: Some things that I have enjoyed in the year 7/8 hub this term have been the Koru Games at school because the real one was cancelled. I also enjoyed Novel Study because my book was really interesting. I loved Cross Country. It was really fun. The saddest thing this term was seeing Mrs Baker go, but I was happy to see Mr Sy was taking her place.
Name: Sam
My T3 Reflections: My highlight of this term is maths because I feel I have really improved in the past weeks of this term. I enjoyed seeing Mrs Baker before she left. It was sad and at the same time but fun because there were games, food and the year ⅞ hub got to spend more time with Mrs Baker before she left. What I am proud of is not getting in trouble and having a good time with Mr Brown, Mr Muller and Mr Sy. Thanks and have a good holiday.
Name: Missy
My T3 Reflections: Some highlights from this term for me are the sports tournament, Going to the Ellesmere speech competition, being in the canta math team for year 8, progressing in drums and having my writing displayed in the classroom. The one sad part was that Mrs Baker left our hub but then we got to have a fun day revolving around why she left.
Name: Zubia
My T3 Reflections: This term I have had so many fun experiences like the year ⅞ hub sports tournament, moving up to level 4 number knowledge in maths, doing the speech competition, making so many new friendships with so many different people, doing a whole bunch of fun learning like have your say and job applications, getting to know Mr Brown, Mr Muller and Mr Sy a bit more and a bunch of other things. One of my favourite experiences this year was definitely doing the speech competition because I loved my speech and I had a lot of fun writing it. Another one of my favourite experiences was the year ⅞ hub sports tournament, because everyone was so kind to one another and everyone was cooperating with each other very well. One of the sad parts of this term was Mrs Baker leaving due to her pregnancy, I was really sad when Mrs Baker left but I was happy to have such a kind teacher like Mr Sy to be coming in to take over for Mrs Baker. Overall, I really enjoyed this term and I can’t wait to see what next term brings.

My T3 Reflections: This term has been extremely different to most terms in good and bad ways, my main highlight this term has been practicing to go to Koru Games even when it was cancelled I also really enjoyed the 2-3 days of sport at school our team didn't do well but I had a lot of fun. A challenge that I have faced this term has been maths, specifically ixl because I am working on a really difficult level and I keep going down in points. I am proud of my election writing because I feel that I have done a good job of it and it was fun finding out the policies. I would like to thank Mr Brown because he has helped me with a lot of things this term. I am grateful for Mrs Baker because this term she has helped me out with my novel study and taught me definitions of words. Overall im very excited to see what next term brings.
Name: Dannielle
My T3 Reflections: I really enjoyed the sports tournament because we got to play sports that I wouldn't normally play. The sad part is that Mrs Baker left us to have her baby boy.
Name: Holly
My T3 Reflections: I am proud of achieving my science and merit badges this term. I am grateful for my teacher helping me in maths. A challenge I faced this term was my Dear Mr Sy writing because I am not a great writer. One of the highlights this term was the Have You Say activities because it is something I have never done before.
Name:Eden
My T3 Reflections: I am really proud of myself for achieving a science badge. Because it took me a long time to achieve it. I think I finished it in term two but it arrived this term. Even though I am proud of myself. Also that I have really tried hard this term to achieve as much as I could. I have also been trying hard to put myself out there and be seen. Overall this term has been fun and I am looking forward to what next term has to offer.
Name: Morgan
My T3 Reflections: My main highlights of this term were Koru Games training even though we didn't end up going because it was really fun playing games to practice. Another one was being a part of the pop up penguin painting because it was really weird and funny working with all other year levels. I really enjoyed the sports competition we did in place of Koru games. It was really fun. My last main highlight was Mrs Bakers last day although it was sad that she was leaving the games and things we did to celebrate the reason she was leaving were really enjoyable.
Name: Steven
My T3 Reflections: My T3 Reflections: The best thing I did this term was going on to level four IXL.I have enjoyed the hub ⅞ sports tournament 2020.I am thankful for Mr Sy, Mr Muller and Mr Brown for being really good teachers and for helping me in maths

My T3 Reflections: I loved this term It was so full of excitement.Even though we did have to follow the covid 19 restrictions the teachers made it full of excitement and joy. I liked the sports tournament and I really hope we get to do it again. Something I did NOT like was when Mrs Baker had to leave us but apart from that everything was so much fun.I can not wait for next term.😁
Name: Xanthe
My T3 Reflections: I loved this term but it was sad in week 7. Some of my favourite parts of this term was improving my math and reading my novel. It was a really good one. Another really fun part of this term was the year ⅞ games, it was really fun and a lot of people were very competitive and I'm really happy because we get to have a play off tomorrow. It has also been really fun at Tech and I’m really happy because I’m in wood work now and it is probably the best one. A sad thing about this term was saying goodbye to Miss Baker. She was probably my favourite girl teacher but the good thing is that she is coming back next year.
Name: Campbell
My T3 Reflections: My highlight of this term is our ⅞ hub sport competition. It was very fun to do. I had a good team.A challenge that I faced in the sport competition was we were against a really good team and we lost. I am proud of me for winning my team a point in capture the flag.Thank you Mrs Baker for helping me when I needed it.I am grateful for all of the teachers because they helped me.I can't wait for next term.
Name: Esther
My T3 Reflections: My highlight of this term is maths because I feel I have really improved in the past weeks of this term with Lanica. Together we are dumb and dumber; that’s what we call ourselves. I’m dumb and Lanica is dumber and we don’t mind being called that it’s just an inside joke between us. I also so really enjoyed playing the ⅞ hub tournament it all fun in games. Another thing I enjoyed was the games, we did with Mrs Baker for her leave it was sad at the same time but fun because there were games, food and the year ⅞ hub got to spend more time with Mrs Baker before she left. What I am proud of is coming 3rd in cross country and going to South West zones and coming 11th. I then got to go to Canterbury's which I was so excited for, but then it got cancelled because of Covid-19 which was challenging for me because I only have next year to get into Canterbury's again which would be amazing.
Name: Leah
My T3 Reflections: My highlight of this term was maths because at the start I wasn’t really into it and it was quite hard for me because I wouldn’t go to the teacher for help but when I went to the teacher they helped me a lot and then I moved onto level four and now I am on the last activity for level four so I’m proud of myself. Another one of my highlights this term is the ⅞ tournament fun week because in my team we worked together and cheered everyone on. But we did get a few loses but that was fine because we just kept on playing with a cheerful smile. Something I was sad about was when Mrs Baker had to leave us because she was pregnant but I am glad for her because she is going to be a mother.
Name: Fazil
My T3 Reflections:I really enjoy the sports competition. The race was not real, it was for fun.I really enjoy the football game it was fun.

Name: James
My T3 Reflections:I have had fun but it was sad because Mrs Baker had to leave.
Name: Avia
My T3 Reflections: This Term has been great but hard. My highlight for this term was playing the tournament at school as Koru Games got cancelled. Although I was looking forward to Koru Games I still had a good time at school. A challenge I have faced this term was to hit the 15 hours of IXL. As the teachers were talking about this I had a feeling I wouldn't get it done but since I've been working very hard I have been getting there. Something that I am proud of is that I got all my learning that was to be completed last term. I had my name up on the board for everything but this term I haven't had my name up for all of them. The person that I am thanking for supporting me throughout my year in the Year ⅞ hub is Mrs Baker she was always supporting me through everything and I'm very grateful I had her as a teacher. The person I'm grateful for is Mr Sy because he has come into the year ⅞ hub and has helped me out so much and i'm very grateful to have him as a teacher again.
Name: Iris
My T3 Reflections: I enjoyed Term 3 because it’s a really fun term. Except the last week of Mrs Baker. But I’m still happy about Mr Sy coming in to teach us. My highlight for Term 3 is my maths because I learnt lots of new things. A challenge that I faced this term is also math, because some of the new things I learnt are complicated. I’m really proud of myself because even though the questions were hard, I still managed to solve them on my own. Mr Muller supported me a lot in math this term by helping me with the questions I don’t understand. I’m grateful for getting most of my work done because I don’t want to be left out on Fun Day.
Name: Julie
My T3 Reflections: My Term 3 went fast. I am proud of my IXL maths because I have improved a lot and learnt a lot. I am also proud of my improvement in writing through the small pieces of writing we do on Wednesday. The hardest thing this term was probably fitness because we went quite hard on fitness this term. The thing I am most grateful for this term would probably be my teachers because they have helped me and made this term fun! I am also grateful that I did most of my work because I want to be part of the fun day. I am sad that Mrs Baker had to leave but I am also happy that Mr Sy came into our hub.
