Term 4 - What's Happening.....
Here's an explanation of the awesome things we will be doing in the Year 7/8 Hub this term.
Dance
It's that time of year when we start preparing for our Year 7/8 Formal.
This year, we will be learning the Waltz, Rock and Roll Reel, Line Dance, Rock and Roll Dance and a Gay Gordon (Mr Muller's favourite).
We will be starting formal dance practice in Week 1. Many students are already buzzing with excitement.
Athletics
Athletics is just around the corner in Week 2. Last term we managed to get in a bit of practice in Shot Put, Discus and High Jump. We look to continue this this week before Wednesday and Thursday Week 2.
Wellington Camp
In Week 5, the Year 8 Students and Teachers will be travelling to Wellington on a Cultural Trip to look at what makes New Zealand unique.
We will be saying at the YHA and will be visiting Te Papa, Parliament, He Tohu, National War Memorial, Botanical Gardens, Capital E and have some fun rock climbing on the waterfront.
Uniquely New Zealand
As we prepare for our Wellington Trip, we will be completing a month long unit that looks into what makes New Zealand, New Zealand.
Students will learn about:
WW1 and WW2 and how New Zealanders were involved, Famous New Zealanders in war, The Treaty of Waitangi, The Declaration of Independence, The Women's Suffrage Bill and Parliament.
Te Reo
This term, we will be learning about Kai and then Hauora. The students will be learning this themselves and then also teaching our junior buddies.
Te Hapua
BB if off to Te Hapua. Please make sure you return the signed permission form.
