Year 4 Sleepover

Tash Baker - December 6, 2015

The Year 4 students slept the night at school in Term 4 and had the chance to experience different camp activities!

The Room 8, 12 and 13 students had their Year 4 camp/sleepover at school in November. The students were very excited, spending time planning and preparing for this overnight experience. Our sleepover started with everyone setting up their beds for the night. The girls were in the hall and the boys in Room 8 & 9. Our dinner of Fish ‘n’ Chips went down a treat, even smothered in all that tomato sauce!

Our camp activities started with a game of Colours. This was a game of tag where students had to tag someone from the opposite coloured team. Once tagged they had a stripe of that new colour painted on their faces. So they all looked like Native Americans with war paint on by the time we finished.

A highlight for most students was the ‘Action Auction’. Each student had to go and get 4 random items from their bags that could be used to create a new look. Milos and ALOT of home baking for supper then bedtime.

Lights out...Time for sleep! Not by a long shot!

On Friday we started bright and early with some aerobics in the hall followed by cereal or toast for breakfast. Our first big activity of the day was Orienteering. We had to use a map of the school to locate different orienteering markers and record the symbol. A big challenge!

We made our own shared lunch on Friday and had to help make either French toast, egg sandwiches or fruit kebabs. It was cool to use the eggs from the chickens to do some cooking with.

The students enjoyed this experience and had a lot of fun. Our parents did too! All the Year 4 Team would like to thank our wonderful parents who joined us for the night or helped out on either the Thursday or the Friday. This would not have been possible without your help.

Here are some student highlights:

  • Having a big pillow fight started by one of our Dads.

  • Making all the food for our Year 4 shared lunch and then enjoying a nice cold ice block afterwards.

  • Placing 3rd in Orienteering and racing to the finish line with Sam's group right behind us and the pillow fight

  • Wearing the created life jacket during our Action Auction

  • Getting to just hang out by ourselves and the game of foxes and hounds

  • SLEEP!

  • Playing the tag game of ‘Colours’ and making our food for the Year 4 shared lunch

  • Playing the tag game ‘Colours’

  • Creating the most pigtails on a boys head during our Action Auction
