Fire drill!

Alicia Hebbend —

Today on Wednesday we had a fire drill! Hub 1 did really well ...

What a great day for a fire drill! Hub 1 did really well because we were all mixed up in our maths classes. We organised ourselves into our whanau groups on the field.

When we returned to class we talked about what a "drill" means (it was a practise - no fire). In a fire we -

  • Stay calm.
  • Listen for the adult/teacher and line up.
  • Walk out to the field.
  • Sit on the field in a boy and girl line in our whanau groups.
  • Sit quietly and wait for our name.
  • When we hear our name we put our hand up and say a loud "yes".

We practised an earthquake drill, too! Earthquakes are different because there might not be a siren! We stay in the class if we are already in there because outside might be to wobbly to move. We drop to the ground, make a turtle and cover our heads!

Hub 1 is ready for an emergency!
