We appreciate generous people.

Lance Muller —

Each year the head students spend a day out in the community trying to get donations of items to be used as quiz night prizes.

Four energetic and motivated head students, one teacher and an empty station wagon. They key ingredients for a morning spent approaching local businesses for donations of items to use as quiz night prizes.

Two teams were formed and a boys vs girls challenge was issued to keep motivation high. Instructions were given and with that, we hit the malls - Barrington, Hornby and Riccarton Malls firmly in our sights.

Three hours later we sat down to reflect (over milkshakes) on our morning . Numerous generous businesses had donated items and the boot of the station wagon had filled up.  We had all been on the end of multiple rejections but spirits were high and the general consensus was that the morning had been a success.

Well done to  four amazing head students who did a superb job of demonstrating ALL of their CARE values. You really did represent Oaklands with pride.

See what the students had to say about their experience below:

It was a really cool experience to go out into the community and try to get donations for the quiz night. Everyone that we talked to was really nice and wanted to help us out. It was interesting because I had never done anything like this before. We had a competition of who could get the most prizes; it was boy vs girls and Charlotte and I won. After we had finished getting all the prizes Mr Muller bought us all a milkshake.
