On Thursday, March 21st we will be celebrating the cultural diversity at Oaklands School with a Multicultural Celebration day.

Children come to school dressed in their national costume that represents their culture/home country, including New Zealand students. An outline of our special day is as follows:

9.15-12.00 - Parent Activity Morning - We would love you to come and share a part of your culture with the children in the morning. You can show them a dance, plan an art activity, sing a song together, do a quiz or play a game with the students.

Parade - representing the different countries at our school. March with other children from the same country.

2.00 - Cultural Performance Assembly in the hall - performers will play instruments, dance, and sing songs. This is a great afternoon; you are all welcome and encouraged to attend.

Parent helpers are required from 9.20-12.00 on Thursday, March 21st to teach children about their culture. Materials will be available if needed. The class teacher stays to support you. There will be three sessions 9.20-10.00, 10-10.30 and 11.20-12.00. There will be a notice to fill in and bring back to your child's class teacher.

If you require more information, please email me: joanne.casey@oaklands.school.nz, I am available to answer questions before and after school on a Thursday. I will be working in the office. Thank you for your support.
