Amber Hill-Successful Singer
Amber Hill, Head Girl at Oaklands Te Kura o Ōwaka in 2020, is also a talented and successful singer.
Amber has been a member of the Oaklands School Senior Choir for the last 4 years. Along with this, Amber has also been a member of the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival Choirs (Junior Yr 5-6 and Senior Yr 7-8) for the last 4 years.
These special choirs are for specialist singers who go through a rigorous auditioning process each year to be awarded a place in one of the Choirs. It has involved a big commitment from Amber and her family to support her attendance at practices and performances in her out of school hours as well.
Even though there is no Music Festival in 2020, Amber was selected for the Senior Choir earlier this year. They have recently had a performance for family and friends. At this event Amber was awarded a special medal in recognition of her membership of the Music Festival Choirs for 4 years, an achievement not held by many.
We congratulate you Amber on this high level of success and wish you well with your future adventures in the world of music as you leave Oaklands Te Kura o Ōwaka at the end of 2020.
In Amber's words: When I first joined the Junior Choir, myself, and the group I was with, we all committed to push ourselves to do our best so we could get better to match the high standard of the choirs in order to get our medals. It took a lot of effort and I'm really proud of what I've achieved.
