Today we highlight the super-talented Enzo and his outstanding swimming results

Recently Enzo competed in the Vikings Battle of the ages swim meet. He swan in a total of 7 events in the 11yr boys and achieved these outstanding results:

1st in 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke. 

1st in 100 fly 

3rd in 100 IM (individual medley) . 

Not only did he achieve so many 1sts, but to top it off, and what all athletes secretly desire, Enzo achieved  PBs (personal bests in all events.

In between swimming lengths, we caught up with Enzo for a quick chat.


Q: How long have you been with your current club, Jasi?

--> 2 years 

Q: How often do you train?

--> 4 times a week, for one to one and a half hours per session. 

Q: What do you like about swimming and your involvement with your club?

--> I like the individual individual nature of swimming, but I also enjoy team events such as relays. 

Q: Which stroke do you prefer?

--> Breaststroke

Q: What current/future goals do you have?

--> I want to try a try and break the 50m 11year old record for breaststroke, It stands at 2m38. something. I have 2 seconds to make up and about 6 months left to get there.

Q: What advice do you have for someone keen to get reallu intro swimming like you do?

--> Firstly you have to be ok with it being boring because it is very repetitive. That is just part of what it is. Secondly., you need a lot of internal drive to push you to keep going and improve.

Q: Do you have a swimmer you admire / look up to / want to emulate?

--> There is a Chinese swimmer who recently broke the record for all the breaststroke events at the World Championships. someone.

It might just be that in a few years time, junior swimmers make be taking their inspiration from Enzo as he makes his mark on the world stage.
