Year 5/6 Winter Sport

Danny Hillary —

This year was a bit shorter 'due to....' However we still had 6 rounds of Winter Sport at Hagley. We had some tip top weather and the fields were in good condition the whole time. Below is some student reports from each team and some gratitude about the help we had.

Soccer

Arman N:Winter sports has been a co-operative experience. While playing competitive pool games, my team has engaged in playing collaboratively and attentively. Everybody has been considerably unified in Soccer 1. I am pleased with my teams’ effort and behaviours that were successfully demonstrated during this period.

Cooper: I enjoyed playing against lots of other teams because there were good teams that we came across. I also enjoyed playing lots of other positions.

Isaac: I liked playing Soccer for winter sports because it was my first time playing out of school. Also I liked playing different teams because I could see how good they were.

Jessica: Winter sport was a great collaborative experience. My team played well and tried so hard. While we weren’t football legends, we enjoyed it and gave it our all. Most of our games were losses but how much does that really matter? Everybody was treated equally and I am proud to say I was in the team. My highlights were just running around and letting everybody have a fair chance with the ball.

Matthew: What I enjoyed was getting into a winter sport team and playing football and winning one game. It was fun to do this during school time.

Hockey

Elise: I had lots of highlights this season, I had an excellent time with many amazing moments. We loved winning (which we did most weeks) even if we lost, we enjoyed every second of it. We played well as a team and I liked this year more than last year and I think we were outstanding. I also liked that I got a couple of hours off school.

Zach W: There are several highlights that I have from winter sport though my top one would probably be our first game against Redcliffs when we won and I scored twice. I was happy how everyone in our team worked together and my best friends were also in the team.

Max: I had several highlights of my winter sport. Firstly, I was in a team with my friends and I worked well with mostly everyone. Secondly, Our first game against Redcliffs where we won and we felt really pumped after we won. Thirdly, I’ve never played Hockey before and really enjoyed it. Last but not least, the bus ride. I really enjoyed going on a bus so I could sit next to my friends.

Matthew: I had several highlights of my winter sport. My number 1 highlight was winning our first game against Redcliffs.

Jacque: There are many highlights I have enjoyed in winter sport this year. First is that I had many people in year 5 to support me when I got hurt. Secondly the people in my team were basically all my friends and that I could sit next to them on the bus. Thirdly I mostly enjoyed being in the Hockey team because Elise, her mum was our coach and she would always bring lollies or chocolate.

Kaira: I enjoyed all of it, it was super fun leaving school and going to Hagley park. I liked my team because they were helpful and kind.

Jessie: I have lots of highlights of being in the Hockey team. Firstly being able to be in a team that was so supportive .Secondly is that I started talking to people that I would not talk to at school. Thirdly is that i got to play all the potions like back, mid and forward. Lastly thing I most enjoyed was being in such a kind and nice team.

Rugby

Kade: I had several favourite moments in the winter sport like when the yr 5s scored I enjoyed watching them grow as a player. Especially in our last game I sprained my arm. It really hurt but the team kept on going. I am super proud of the team and can't wait to possibly be able to come along as a yr 8 leader.

Tai: I liked winter sport, or I should say Rugby because I love League and rugby is kind of like it. Another reason is my brother Zar played it so I tried it and it was cool or cool bananas. I would recommend playing if you like having fun with your friends. My favourite part was my first try, it was so cool.

Fletcher: I liked winter sports because of my great team. We played like a team in the last game. We lost though but we played our very best. It was heaps of fun. I can't wait until year 6.

Netball

Lily: I have really enjoyed winter sport this year with all of my friends. This is also my first time playing Netball and I really enjoy it. My favourite position to play is Defence because you get to intercept a lot.

Manaia: I have really enjoyed playing winter sport this year, it was fun playing with my friends. We have won all of them even though I missed the last game. The team I was in was the best because we have all come together as friends.

Laura: This year at winter sports I have enjoyed playing with my friends in the same team. I think our team worked well together, as we didn't work as individuals.

Milayna: Something I enjoyed in Winter Sports was playing Attack in Netball because I got to shoot lots of hoops. I also enjoyed doing the points count because I got to run back and forward and back again! If I was to do it again I would try the centre place. This is because I have never had experience doing centre so this would be very interesting.

Sasha: Something that I enjoyed in winter sports is when I was playing centre. This is because I got some good intercepts. When I played attack I may not be the best shooter but I always got the rebounds and I got it in the hoop a few times in a row as well.

Emily G: Something I enjoyed in winter sports was attack because I got to try and get a hoop. I also enjoyed playing centre because I got to go everywhere except in the circles
