Police Competency Test - 2023
Taiheke were fortunate enough to have two teams enter into this event. Check out their reflections.
PCT competition was held on Tuesday the 7th of March. This event was run at Cowles stadium. Students in their teams were put through their paces, testing their speed, agility, teamwork, and perseverance. Below are our student's reflections and a selection of photos from the event. Enjoy.

- I thought that the PCT test was very fun and an amazing experience. We got to do lots of activities, such as laser, lilypad and who could fold their tarpaulin the most times and we would have to stand on them for ten seconds. My favourite part was the actual test because it was fun jumping over the walls.
Ella
- I really enjoyed PCT this year. It was so amazing getting involved with all the activities. My favorite activity was probably the laser beam, on this activity, we had to run and they scanned our speed. I got 21. It was really enjoyable. The PCT competition was challenging, jumping over walls, helping others, and running. My favorite obstacle in the race was the wire wall because it was easy to jump over.

- The PCT was extraordinary with plenty of activities including: Laser run where there was a police that would record your speed with a laser gun while you run down a track, We got to tour through a police car and look through the st. John's equipment, learning the safety position and also learning how to do CPR. There were also team-building challenges that would test your teamwork. But my favourite was the main event which was the PCT course! It was my favourite because of all the obstacles which was a challenge but through teamwork we succeeded.
Dylan
- PCT was challenging with lots of fun activities throughout the day. My favourite activity was called laser where a cop tests your maximum speed as you sprint as fast as you can down the track. The actual PCT competition was the most challenging of all and surprisingly the hardest obstacle was not the gigantic wall. It was speeding around the cones with a bin!

- PCT was a fabulous experience. I learned so many new things like how to do CPR. The PCT course was amazing. We had to jump over walls, walk on a beam, slide under things, do lots of running, and work as a team. When we weren't doing the PCT course, we were doing different activities with other school groups. My favourite activity was called The Lazer where one person had to run down a path and the police would use a special machine to show how many Kilometers an hour each person went. I went 23 km an hour. Overall I had a fantastic time and I loved that our team worked together.

- Taking part in the PCT this week was an amazing experience as we were able to put all our fitness skills to the test. One of my highlights from the event was taking part in a variety of activities leading up to the main test. The main test was a very challenging course with many obstacles to overcome as a team but after all our hard work on the course, we were able to get a free sausage sizzle (which was very yummy). Overall I would recommend to anyone coming into year 7/8 in the coming years to try out for the PCT team as it was an amazing experience and just a really great chance to work in a team.

- I really enjoyed the pct test and met some cool people that were in my group. The whole experience was awesome and I saw some of my mates. I wish we had done it l wish we had done it last year, but it was still fantastic to have a go at it.
