Year 0/1 Blog - Week 9 Term 4
What a great night we had at the gala!
This Week....
We were so super proud of our tamariki for their amazing gala performance. We had put in hours of practice and I think the results showed on the night. What superstars they are!
Getting ready for next year...
This week has been super busy (when are we not) with transitioning the children and getting them comfortable with expectations for next year. Today was our first transition day and the tamariki handled it like champions. If any concerns came home from your child, please let your kaitiaki teacher know so that we can front foot any issues that might arise.
Tuakana/Teina
This week we were super lucky to have some of the Year 7/8 children come and work in our space. This example of showing community was a very special time as they worked with our ākonga on a cooperative activity making Christmas cards. We don't know who enjoyed it more - the senior students, the junior students or the teachers!
Swimming
We have now finished our swimming programme for the year. The tamariki have shown great gains in their confidence in the water. The school pool remains open for the rest of the school year so the children can still bring their togs on Tuesday and Friday.
Enjoying our classes
This week has also been about celebrating our time together this year. We have been doing a lot of reflection around our highlights and the Year 0/1 teachers are starting to feel rather sad about having our gorgeous ākonga move on next year. This is a sneak peek of how we appreciate spending time with them (please note: Mrs Loper would have a) loved to have been in the photos but I was taking the pictures .. and b) I'm not young enough to sit on the spinning wheel without feeling ill!)
Coming up ...
We have our second transition day on Monday. Tamariki will be with their new teacher next year for the day. For the rest of the week classes will be as normal.
Shared Breakfast
Our final celebration breakfast is in Week 11, Monday 18th of December. Whānau are invited to bring a plate and share in celebrating another successful term at Oaklands. As normal, our timetable will be:
8.30am - families arrive
8:50am - breakfast
9.10am - class item/presentation
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Water Day
On Thursday next week (14th Dec) it is our term reward day for children showing their CARE values. It is a water play day. Children will be getting wet so please make sure they come to school with their togs, towel, sun block. Water pistols are fair game so if you have any at home, children are welcome to bring them.
