Current Events: Mt. Erebus Disaster - This week the students have been researching about the worst air accident in New Zealand history, the Mount Erebus Crash in Antarctica in 1979.
Maths
This week has been a review on our times tables of the 1's, 2's, 3's 5's and 10's. It has been wonderful to hear from the students their honest reflections on how they thought they knew them of by heart, but realised that with practice they have strengthen their ability to recite them.
April Fool's Day
This week's reflections was an April Fool's Day prank for the students. The students were asked to reflect on 13 different aspects of learning from this term. However, on the fourth page in very small print was instructions to only complete this week's reflections. Many students recognised this quickly and achieved the task without letting others know.
However, many other students didn't clearly read all the instructions and attempted to finish all 13 reflections. When we bought the students back down to the mat and let them share with each other their were comments of, "I've been bamboozled."
The only reflections that were required from the students this week were their reflections on the times tables, Mt. Erebus disaster and the Seedling writing. Any others that have been done are a wonderful bonus.

Next week on Wednesday and Friday we have the Sir Peter Blake trust coming in to visit Taiheke. We will be looking at water pollution and over fishing. The students will have the opportunity to use a VR Headset to visit different sites from around New Zealand and from under the waves.
