Jessica Gledhill —

Wow! We are nearly half way through the term! Where has it gone?

We have had so many fun events already this term.

Athletics Fun Day - Wow! So much fun was had by all involved in the Athletics events on the field this Thursday! We started the day with a shared lunch. It was lovely to see so many parents in the school supporting their children and even other children while they did the events. Students were challenging themselves to sprint, compete in shuttle runs, jump vertically, long jump into a sawdust pit, throw bean bags, tennis balls and gumboots to reach a target.

Student voice about Athletics Fun Day:

Mila - I liked the gumboot throw and the sprints.

Jasmine - It was fun and I liked throwing the gumboots the best!

Lucy - When we did the sports day it was challenging.

Hussain - My favourite event was the vertical jumping and the sprints.

Everett - I liked the running events because I got to show my fitness.

Esther - I liked jumping into the long jump pit!

Multicultural Week -

Students designed flags to represent their country. We then got to celebrate in the hall with our flags and watch the other children celebrate their cultures too. It was so much fun!

Jeanine Topelen came in to give us a presentation on her culture - The Netherlands. We got to learn about geographical structure and population of the country, the national food, and the flowers. Thank you so much Jeanine, the tamariki loved to hear about your heritage!

We had some volunteers come in to do Henna on our students. The had the skills and patience to complete 20+ students in our waka in a limited amount of time. Hats off to you! Thank you Pinky and Tapsee!!

Scavenger Hunt - We had to go around the school and find all the flags from different countries.

Elle - I found some of the clues, it was challenging to find them all!

Jasmine - I liked the scavenger hunt because it was fun finding all the clues!
