Week 4 in Review
This week students have continued to progress in their learning across writing, reading, and maths.
Writing
Students have managed to have a successful week of writing that was not without its challenges. In 3SF writing students focused on including the 5 w’s in their writing and continued to work on our handwriting.
Reading
This week reading has been really good – we have seen students CARE books being ticked off in their reading log, which shows the commitment they have for learning. Students have shown a commitment to reading throughout these lessons as well as developing their vocabulary through our in class reading games.
Maths
Maths Whizz has got off to a flying start with an astounding amount of progressions already being made! In the past week students have re-immersed in their maths using the I-Pads, and have managed to complete other activities and maths games in class too.
Te Reo Maori
This week we have had Matua Rihari again, and our lesson today was positive in improving our students’ knowledge of their Mihi. The aim is for students to memorize their mihi by the end of the term, and so their mihi template will be stuck in to the back of their CARE books next week.
CARE ticks
This week has seen an improvement in the amount of CARE ticks given to students. those who have gained this acknowledgement have done so deservingly and we hope they continue to be role models for their classmates.
Swimming
After last weeks instructed lessons, we have begun a more structured approach to our lessons, as we continue to test student’s ability in the water, and assess what they can and cannot do. Overall the results so far have been positive, and we will continue to encourage students to be competent swimmers and comfortable in the water.
Teacher Only Day
Also, please note that we have a teacher only day on the 11th of March.
