Starfish Swimming for the Year 4's!

We have been swimming at Starfish Swim School!

The Year 4 Hub have begun swimming lessons at Starfish Swim School. We will be going every afternoon for 2 weeks! Throughout the afternoon each whānau class catches the bus to Starfish Swim School, has a 30 minute lesson then buses back to school.

During the first lesson students were assessed and placed into lanes to begin their intensive 2 week programme. At the end of the 2 weeks there are certificates outlining which skills have been achieved over the lessons.

Each group has different learning goals with their swimming and lessons are tailored and adapted specifically to the students within a group. 

Some of the skills we have seen covered so far are: floating, turning heads to the side to breathe, being confident in the water, putting our heads under, the correct arm circle technique for freestyle and backstroke, diving technique, kicking and more!
