Art in Hub 1 2020

Emily Macfarlane —

Hub One have had lots of fun doing art this year. Take a look at the pictures below to see some of the amazing creations!

We experimented with layering watercolours, and we learned about our emotions in drama! We also worked very hard in Dance to learn our Gala Performance Piece.

"I liked putting the sugar on the water colours because after when the paint dries you can take it off and make a pattern." Maddison  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"I liked the water colours because we can paint with them. We painted inside circles and the colours were pretty." -Morgan  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"My favourite thing was the water colours because I could paint. I was proud of all the different colours and patterns." - Myrah  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane

Here are some of the things we enjoyed about art this year!

"I liked the drama where we did drumming because it's fun and I was really fun." Lilly T

"I liked the colours and the water because we did the opposite. We went colours and then water instead of water then colours." Natikah

"My favourite thing was the drums because I liked doing it. I'm proud because I was very creative!" - Lilly B

"I liked doing the water colours because I liked making the patterns. My favourite was the sugar one because when I scraped it off I could see the pattern the sugar left!" - Delaney

We also learned how to create depth using colours and shading with pastels. We did this by using dark colours for background and light colours for the foreground.

"My favourite thing about art this term was drawing the trees because we got to use pastels and I liked my drawing!" - Camryn  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"I liked the tree because I can glue it on and the moon is in the middle. I can see part of the moon. I am proud of the colouring!" - Charles  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"I liked the tree art because I got to use a lot of pretty pastels. I'm proud of the moon and the tree because I cut it out really carefully." - Emma  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"I like mine because I coloured it really carefully. I coloured in all the white parts." - Lena  — Image by: Emily Macfarlane

We also explored looking at emotions through drama, and we created penguin art after learning about penguins in integrated topic!

"There is snow and the penguin has to be white because the wings are black. The fluff keeps it warm. I'm proudest about the penguin and the background because it looks beautiful." - Harry — Image by: Emily Macfarlane

"My penguin has got lots of snow on it. I drew me with velvet hair! I'm really proud of the eyes because they're so cool! My favourite part is the penguin's body because it has blue skin." - Olivia — Image by: Emily Macfarlane

"I liked painting the penguins. I am proud of making it rainbow!" - Eden — Image by: Emily Macfarlane
"The thing I love about my penguin is the mountains he can walk on and it's got water behind it that it can swim in, and black sky. I'm impressed with the background that I did. I love my penguin art! - Evie H — Image by: Emily Macfarlane

We have also enjoyed exploring free choice art on the Whakamata Stations each week.
