Primary Canterbury Cross Country

Danny Hillary —

On Wednesday 22 June our top Cross Country runners competed at the Primary Canterbury Cross Country at Halswell Quarry. The weather and course were excellent, with warm temperatures and a fast, dry track. Our best result came from Xanthe, who placed 8th in the Year 8 girls race.  All of the other children put in maximum effort and should be proud.

Here are some of the children's thoughts about the racing:

Jack G: It was a great  race for me I was first boy home in our race for Oaklands school year 6 boys.

Caleb: It was a hard race, I did well and I had a great time with the Oaklands cross country crew.

Ashley: I found out that it was a lot harder than I thought but it was fun and I am just happy I got there in the first place .

Josh: It was hard, but I finished the race and there was a lot of pushing.  I had  a lot of fun with the Oaklands team and I came 84th out of 122 runners.

Jack M: I didn't run as well as last year. I had some trouble with my asthma. But I kept running hard, right to the end.
