Red Hub Scientists
This term in science we are learning how to experiment, form a hypothesis, ask questions, test our ideas and look at results.
So far we have made a lava lamp, moved milk and made oobleck.
Lava Lamp
Making and watching the lava lamp was a lot of fun! Because the oil was lighter than water, it stayed on top of the water. When we dropped an Alka Seltzer tablet into the bottle it sunk down to the water and dissolved, creating bubbles that floated up and looked like lava in our lamp. Here is a link to the lava lamp instructions incase you want to make another one at home: https://sciencebob.com/blobs-in-a-bottle-2/
Mooving Milk
We looked at the affect dishwashing liquid had on food colouring when it was in milk. We used both trim and full fat milk, making a hypothesis about what we thought would happen and what would be different between the two variables. Take a look at some of the photos of us experimenting below or try it at home: https://sciencebob.com/a-color-symphony/
Oobleck
Just like Dr. Seuss, we made Oobleck! We found it fascinating how the oobleck changed between liquid and solid. We poked it, squeezed it and let it ooze through our fingers. This is another awesome experiment that you can try at home. Take a look at the instructions here: https://www.livescience.com/21536-oobleck-recipe.html
