End of Term 3 Update

Margaret Trotter —

The term has had many cultural and sporting successes. I hope you have enjoyed reading about our students achievements in our school newsletters.

Our final assembly on Friday 23 September at 2pm will be an opportunity to celebrate our learning during the term. The focus for our students has been dreaming about what our new learning spaces will look like.  I have attended the first property meeting with the Ministry of Education to begin our process.

Another focus for the Ministry of Education is the consultation for Halswell Community. There have been a number of meetings for the greater community and there is now a survey which I encourage you to complete as part of the decisions on schooling in Halswell.

We will also be farewelling Mrs Smith who is retiring after 40plus years in education. She has been at Oaklands for the past 4 years taking our Reading Recovery and ESOL programmes.  We all wish her all the best in her retirement.

I would like to thank Mrs Martin for all her work in collating and meeting with a large number of groups to develop our Education Brief. This document will form the basis of our future direction for Oaklands School.

I hope everyone has a well deserved  break.
