We have made a great start to the term, and week 3 has been a week full of fun!
Check out all the fun we have had.
Maths:
For the first 4 weeks of the term we have been taking different kaitiaki classes for a measurement focus. Each class has been looking at one of the following topics with a different teacher each week: Mrs Falconer has been doing Time, Miss Loper has been doing Volume and capacity, Miss Gledhill has been doing Temperature, and Mrs Mclaughlan has been doing length and estimation. We have also been getting engaged in our Matific tasks.
Writing and inquiry:
This week our writing has been based around Goldilocks and the three bears and Hansel and Gretel. Our groups have been writing about porridge and the sequence of the story. To combine our writing with our integrated learning topic we made porridge and they got to enjoy eating it in class.
Reading:
Reading is in full swing this week and our groups have enjoyed engaging in their books and follow up tasks, as well as working with the learner coach to extend their learning. Check out the photos below.
Gymnastics:
As part of our physical education programme this term, we are focusing on gymnastics! We are super excited to show you our skills throughout the coming weeks. This week we have been focusing on balance. We enjoyed the balance beam and practising our balance through jumping.
Dance, Drama, and Music:
This week we had the pleasure of doing dance, drama, and music with our specialised teachers. We learnt about the hungry caterpillar and putting the actions and sounds altogether to create the story. We also looked at abstract art and how we can make our own art with simple lines and shapes.
Care certificates:
We are regularly awarding care value certificates to learners in our space. This is a sample of a few of our well deserved certificate receivers.
It has been a wonderful week 3 in Pātere two, we look forward to next week.
Sincerely, the Year 2 teachers.
