Student Voice:
Ella - I liked the cross country, even though it was very cold and slippery. I had a really fun day and I think Mr Brown's fitness programme really helped so that we could all sprint at the end. I am happy that I and all of the year 7/8s made it to Canterbury's.
Annabel - I really enjoyed going to Zones for Cross Country even though it was cold, it was still fun because it was at the Quarry and I was happy because I have made it to Canterbury's. I think the fitness helped a lot to make me be able to do the sprint at the end. So I am really happy that Mr Brown trained us to be better.
Zara - I really enjoyed racing at the Quarry, it was challenging and really cold but it was a really fun day. It was really slippery but everyone tried their best and we all get to go to Canterbury's now. Thank you to Mr Brown for training us for the sprint at the finish line. I am happy that I improved from last year and am really excited to go to Canterbury's. I am happy with my placing and overall had really fun day.
Blake - I liked it the Cross Country it was fun and cold. It was a bit boring to wait for my race but they need to take the dogs off the race course. Thank you to Mr Brown for the training so now I'm going to CANTERBURY'S!!!
Aidan - I did enjoy it but it was so slippery and cold. I got the best result I have ever gotten. Thank you to Mr Brown for training us for the sprint at the finish line. I am happy because I think it really helped and now I get to go to Canterbury's.
Carter - I liked the Cross Country but It was harder than I thought. I am really excited to go to Canterbury’s. It was freezing cold but I had fun anyway. Mr Brown’s fitness really helped when I needed to sprint at the end.
Felix - I really enjoyed going to Zones because it was challenging but fun. I was really happy because I made it through to Canterbury's and I think Mr Brown’s fitness program really helped.
Taylor - I liked doing the Zones Cross Country it was very challenging but it was fun too. The best part about going was getting through to Canterbury's. I think Mr Brown's fitness helped a lot. I think I will enjoy the Canterburys in two weeks time, because everyone got through so that will make it more enjoyable. I hope it is not slippery for Canterbury's.
Rose - I liked doing the Cross Country even though it was cold and I couldn't feel my feet . I still had a lot of fun .
Zoe - I liked running the Cross Country but it was a lot harder than it looks. I couldn't feel my feet because they were so cold but I still had fun.
Novel Study
We are currently in our second week of our Novel Study. All students are doing a great job at getting stuck into their reading and completing the variety of new activities that have been assigned to their novels.
Numeracy
This week concludes our Number Knowledge testing. Starting next week, all students will be learning about Number Strategies for their expected level of learning.
Writing Skills for Life
This week, we have started a really exciting unit of learning called Writing Life Skills for Life. In this, we will be learning the required skills for communicating effectively across different everyday types of writing e.g. email, TradeMe ads and even application letters for jobs. We have just completed our first piece of writing around communicating effectively through emails and it was a hit! Hopefully, some parents have received some emails from their children.
Decision Making Time
In our Integrated learning, students have now been placed in groups. They have used some tools to help them create a pathway that they are going to use to make change. This will be around their chosen area of concern e.g. Deforestation, Plastic in the Ocean, Climate Change, Water Quality, E Waste, Over Population, Over Fishing and Ozone Depletion.
