Important Information for Returning to Hub 2 in Alert Level 2
Please read this information carefully before returning to school on Monday 18th May.
Drop off/Pick Up
The 4 entrances will be unlocked at 8:30am and 3pm. We are encouraging parents to drop/pick up their children at the gate, however, you may come on site. If you come on site, you will need to sign in and out at the gate either via paper register or QR code and if you need to come into the Hub you will need to do the same at the door. We will have teachers inside the hub. If you need to come on to the school site during 9-3pm, you will need to enter via Cunningham place and sign in at Cunningham place gate and then the office.
Hygiene
For hygiene, adults and students are required to sanitise their hands at the sanitiser stations that are located at all 4 entrance gates and at the entrances of each building.
Students will be washing their hands before and after playtimes and regularly throughout the day. There will be paper towels available for drying as well as the hand dryers that are already situated in the toilets. We have designated sinks in Patere and washing stations at Ripo for handwashing. Students will be able to fill their drink bottle up at designated areas throughout the day. There will be no access to drinking fountains, please ensure your child has a named personal drink bottle each day.
In a kind, reassuring way, we will be teaching/reminding the students to cough/sneeze into their elbow and maintain physical distance where possible.
We have planned all these extra measures into our daily timetable so that the students are not being rushed and we can ensure that we are positively supporting the students to be successful in maintaining good hygiene.
If your child is sick - please keep them at home. We will be sending home any children who come to school sick and asking them to remain at home until symptom-free. If a staff member is sick, they will also be remaining at home until symptom-free.
Students will be asked to only use the toilets that are located in their own hub. Classroom doors will be left open during break times to accommodate this.
We will be regularly cleaning surfaces, equipment and high-tough points to ensure that we are following best practice guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
Please check that every item of clothing that your child has is named so it can be easily returned to the correct student. We cannot hold on to lost property at this time due to the risk of clothing harbouring germs, especially if they sit for long periods of time.
Each child will be given a personal supply of stationery (pens, crayons, pencils) instead of the usual shared tubs that we have.
All belongings are to stay in the student's bag or their tote tray for the day. This includes drink bottles, pencil cases/plastic bags, snack breaks, and lunch boxes. Students do not need to bring their sun hats for Term 2 and Term 3.
Learning for the next two weeks
We will be welcoming the students back with lots of fun, hands on activities that will incorporate a lot of The Arts. We will be focusing on relationships, well-being and socially connecting with one another again. The programme will be flexible and slow paced to enable us to ease back into the routines of school.
Distance Learning
If your child is not returning to school and requires distance learning, please email us and next week we will provide you with learning for the week, remember you can also access the Home Learning TV.
Devices
If you have been loaned a school device during the lockdown, your child can return it to the office on Monday morning. There will be tables set up outside for the device to be recorded and cleaned before returning to the classroom for use.
Thank you!
We appreciate that this is a lot of information to take in. Thank you for taking the time to read it all and discussing it with your child so that they are prepared for Monday. We are really looking forward to seeing you all again! If you have any further questions, please email us on the Hub email.
