Hub 4 Orana Park Trip

Mark Sy —

In the third week of term 2, Hub 4 visited Orana Park. During our trip, we learnt about our role in the sustainability of animals here on Earth.

Here are some student voice from some children:

I learnt:

Malakai: Some animals have backbones some animals do not.

Kharmony: Rhinos roll in the mud to protect themselves from the sun.

Paige: Do not smile or stare at the gorillas because they will get angry with their brothers.

Hunter: Some animals are endangered.

Nevaeh: Lots of animals live in different habitats.

Noah A: Gorillas are endangered because of the mining of coltan.

Zach: Orangutans have flaps on the sides of their face so they can communicate further.

Lincoln H: Do not feed the animals because they need to work for their food.

Logan V: Giraffes have a purple tongue so they do not get sunburnt.

Lucas: Rhino horns are made of the same thing as our nails.

Emily G: Animals that have their eyes on their head are in danger.

Keegan: Rhinoceros is a bit blind.

Mitchell: Giraffes have rough tongues so they can strip leaves off branches.

Jack: Rhinos can run fast backwards.

Chloe: Gorillas get mad if you look them in their eyeballs.

Hayley: Animals are very special.

Logan MH: That tigers don’t like being in other cages with tigers.

Didi: People are killing tigers and rhinos. That people are killing rhinos to make medicine. That a rhino’s horn is made from the fingernail.

Jacque: Giraffes are related to horses.

Eva: Giraffes have blue tongues to protect them from being sunburned.

Emily T: Rhino is endangered by people killing them for their horns.

Isaac: The rhino horn is used for medicine.

Logan D: Rhino is slow. Giraffes have a long tongue like me!
