Senior Citizens Concert - 2016
What an afternoon we had here at Oaklands School as we celebrated the Performing Arts in front of an enthusiastic audience.
Last Thursday, we held our second Senior Citizens Concert in the school hall. We were blessed not only to have some of our senior residents, but also nearly 100 preschoolers and their helpers from the local preschools in the area. What a great introduction to Oaklands School they had watching up close the groups performing for them.
It was a wonderful occasion and thoroughly enjoyed as our Performing Arts groups entertained the audience. The Senior and Junior Kapahaka, Senior and Junior Dance and Senior and Junior Choirs all did themselves and the school proud along with M.A.K.E - the winners of our school talent Quest. The afternoon concert was followed by afternoon tea - served willingly and joyfully by some of our Year 7/8 students. While they were being served afternoon tea - Mr McCallum along with Elizabeth M and Zoe D entertained with a community sing-a-long which was enjoyed by all.
A wonderful afternoon with big thanks to Elle and Ang for help with afternoon tea, all the teachers for the interruptions as students came and went, Mr McCallum for his efforts in organising this occasion and lastly to the groups who performed - we are so so proud of you.
